This review is all about the Sennheiser RS120 Wireless Headphones. They are and open, stereo, supra-aural, wireless RF headphone system which are intended for home use only since they require a base hooked up to your music source. Though this may seem like a disadvantage, but if home use is all you are using them for, they are great for their range (120 ft/ 100m) and sound quality. They are very light and comfortable so you could wear them for hours while watching a movie or tv shows. Sennheiser has even resolved the issue of space by allowing you to mount it on you wall! An excellent set of wireless headphones, November 13, 2004

After researching Sony, RCA, and Sennheiser wireless headphones I settled on the Sennheiser RS-120's and I have no regrets. These are excellent headphones. I ended up buying them at GoogGuys. When I asked the associate if I could try them he connected them to a DVD player and they came to life. I walked all the way accross the store filled with electronics and heard no interference what-so-ever. I was nothing short of impressed and bought them right then and there.

Now that I have been using them for several weeks I am still amazed by them. I didn't know wireless headphones could be this good. There is no interference around my house. The 300ft range claim is about right. Maybe a bit conservative. I can mow my rental house lawn accross the street and even go next door and still get a good signal.

Sound quality is excellent. Bass is strong, mids are prominent, and highs are crisp. These phones work great for music, TV, and movies. I couldn't be happier with the sound. There is some spotty static in a couple places upstairs but it is practically inaudible when listening to something.

I don't know how long the batteries last because they have never run out. I have worn them for almost 10 hours straight and they were still going strong. I put them on the charger after each use and they have never shown any signs of a low battery.

That brings me to the charging system. It is simply superb. Unlike most other wireless phone charging systems this one is very simple. Just set the headphones on the metal "tube" that sticks out of the base and it charges. No messing around to get them just right so the contacts will contact (AKA Sony).

Build quality is very good. They are light weight, yet sturdy. The RS-120's are much sturdier than any of the other Sennheiser RS phones. They are very comfortable as well. I was worried that, due to their open air, on the ear design that they would get uncomfortable after wearing them for a few hours. I was proven wrong. They have never become uncomfortable.

I have read some reviews where people complain that the base turns off whenever it wants. It has an auto-off features so that it shuts off if it gets not signal for a few minutes. I see no problem with that and it has never bothered me since I'm usually listening to something when I'm wearing them. :)

I have the base connected to my home theater receiver to which I have a TV, DVD player, and my PC connected. The phones work well with all of those sources. Games, music, movies, TV, everything sounds great and I recommend these phones whole heartedly. You would be hard pressed to find a better deal in this price range.

Good but not great, August 2, 2005

This is the first product review I've written on Amazon, but I really felt the need, because I felt somewhat deceived by the huge amount of 5 star reviews for these headphones.

Don't get me wrong, these are decent headphones. I am satisfied with them and I will not be returning them. But there are significant problems, the biggest of which is the ubiquitous hiss. Contrary to many of the other reviews, I found this hiss to be *quite* noticeable. I suppose that is just a fact of life with wireless headphones, but it really is quite annoying, particularly during quiet passages or when stretching the limits of the range.

Speaking of range, it is true as other reviewers said that you can still get a "reasonable" signal at a remarkable distance (it beats my wi-fi network in terms of range). But I find that if I stray more than 15 feet or so from the base, I can notice a gradual reduction in quality, an increase in the volume of the hiss, and occasional whisps of static. I have fiddled with the channel setting and tuning knob quite extensively, and these issues still remain. I am probably a little pickier than the average person, but I do not consider myself an audiophile by any means -- so if *I'm* noticing the quality loss, it's pretty significant.

Now the good news: When you are in the same room as the base and the music is loud enough to drown out the hiss, these headphones sound pretty darn good, at least to my untrained ears. All frequencies are filled out nicely (I did not find it lacking in bass at all) and I don't get that headache-y too-much-treble feeling that I get from extended listening on lousy earbuds.

As other reviewers mentioned, it was a poor choice to put the volume knob and tuning knob right next to each other, but this is very manageable with practice.

In summary, these ain't bad for wireless headphones -- but don't let all those 5-star reviews fool you into thinking you aren't going to pay a significant price for that freedom.

Edit: Since writing the initial review, I figured out what the deal is with these. Whether as a side effect of FM transmission or by design, somewhere along the way this device is causing a pretty aggressive automatic gain control on the signal. A loud signal will cause the headphones to immediately adjust quieter, while they will adjust more gradually to a quiet signal, slowly bringing the level up.

This more or less ruins music that has a lot of dynamics, though *most* modern music will sound more or less okay because of the way it is mastered. The AGC is also the cause of the infamous "hiss" that you hear when your signal is low (it keeps boosting the signal level until you hear noise). I find that keeping the input volume really high diminishes these problems somewhat, but of course then you have to be careful you aren't getting clipping. And it doesn't eliminate the problems altogether.

It's a pity, because the headphones themselves sound great. But the automatic gain control really interferes with certain music, and as a result my review stays at 3 stars.

So there you have it: Sennheiser RS120 Wireless Headphones. Make sure to try on a pair of these so you can start lounging & listening as soon as possible!

Logitech Pure-Fi Anywhere iPod Speakers

Ok, I know this seems weird, but I'm doing two Logitech reviews in a row (and no, I'm not getting paid or anything for this.) Here's the lowdown: The Logitech Pure-Fi Anywhere Speakers, I think, are some of the best. They look good, they sound great, and it comes with a remote so you can lay in your bed without having to move (trust me, I do this a lot!) It has full iPod intergration which means you can do anything from that little remote, such as go to your menu to change songs, crank up the volume, and even play bricks! In addition, it comes with a "Beastly Bass Boost" to really get the party started, and a sound equalizer which makes the sound seem fuller. Just like the Logitech FreePulse I own this audio accessory too. I would highly reccomend this shiny-black monster to anyone who enjoys blasting their music from their iPod anywhere they go. Its portability and battery life are a big plus. More things I discovered was that you could charge your iPod in the speaker. Sweet! So, all this in one little bundle for around $100 on Amazon, seems like a bargin to me! Here's some features:

Definitely Worth The Cost, May 5, 2008

Considering the price I got these for ($35 after $30MIR), these are great. I would not pay full retail price but if you can get them for $50 or less, I wouldn't hesitate. I have this paired with a 3G 8GB Nano and everything has worked well thus far, although I haven't tried playing from a playlist. The sound is more than adequate for traveling speakers. Don't expect them to sound like a THX Certified HT system. I am picky about sound quality and honestly, the sound quality of iPods are poor compared to a Zune, even though the iPod has an equalizer while the Zune doesn't. I wish this system was made for a Zune because I also have a Zune. It's nice that there's also an aux input on the back of the system, which allows you to use the speakers with a separate audio source, like other mp3 players or a laptop. The battery indicator also was added from their previous version (mm50), so that's a nice feature that lets you know how much battery life is left. I got about 8 hours yesterday, playing at about 3/4 volume. Overall, I would recommend this system to everyone who can get it for half the retail price.

Great sonic bang for the buck, November 7, 2007

I've used this unit for approx. a month now. The sturdy case travels well, although it gets a second look from the security folks at the airport scanner. The charging cord and worldwide adaptor are well-designed and fit nicely into the case when closed. It would've been nice to include enough room for the iPod as well. The system is great for the hotel room or camping trip and if you're realistic about the expected sound quality from a pair of 2" drivers, you'll be pleasantly surprised. In addition to the 2" drivers, it has a pair of what Logitech calls "pressure drivers", actually passive radiators that really help push out the bass. The surround sound button adds that extra wide sound, but it's not appropriate for every recording. Logitech ships a set of plastic inserts to accomodate EVERY iPod out there. I have the 80GB classic video, and it docks nicely, although you don't want to bump it too hard or you may damage the connector. The fold out legs with rubber feet make it stable. The 3.5mm AUX line in is nice for those other audio sources. Battery life is decent, but don't expect it to pound out the tunes all weekend w/o a recharge. In the hotel or at home, just plug it in and you'll have tunes as long as you need them, and it'll charge the iPod while docked. The included remote is really handy, well laid out and has a good range. The Altec Lansing and Bose units sound better, but are much bulkier and definitely pricier. All in all a good improvement to the MM50 system for the money.

I bought this product as my first ipod-Speaker product.

I gotta admit that the design is really nice. It surely looks like a classy set of speakers and its ideal to have in the livingroom or bar-area of your house.

However, I expected a little more of its sound. When on the outside, even at full sound these speakers don't make the cut.
I recently tried it at a small gathering i had on my backyard, even at full sound, we could barely hear some of the songs. Im thinking that these type of speakers won't work in a big gathering/party.

Bottom line, looks really nice on a shelf inside or your house. Ideal for poker-nights with your friends, but not for outside parties.

So you see, the Logitech Pure-Fi Anywhere iPod Speakers are a blast so you shouldn't miss out. They come packed-full of speakers so you can rock out at your party.

Ok, this pair of wireless headphones will make you never want to turn back to listening to wired. These are the headphones I have been waiting for all this time. I am very picky...to the point that I could possibly consider myself an audiophile. When I look for headphones, typically I am looking for the best sounding and are not over the head headphones because those for some reason slip off and drive me crazy...not to mention big and bulky. The part of the headphone that is enough to push me over the edge is the wire because some companies use heavy wires, others don't use enough wire, some get tangled way too easily, and the list goes on. I always loved the idea of wireless headphones, but like all new technology...everything starts off as "a work in progress" with steady improvements. Well here is the end result. The FreePulse is everything I wanted in a headphone. It is lightweight, behind the head, and wireless. I am pretty stunned at the quality of the sound. No it is not the best sounding headphone of all time, but I bet if you listen to these you will rate them in your top 5 because they do sound VERY VERY good. I did notice something about the FreePulse...it follows the old saying "you get out of it what you put into it." If you use the 128kbps song files, you will hear how bad those files really do sound. We all know 320kbps is the best and sure enough when you play 320 they sound amazing on the FreePulse. I guess you get so use to cheap tinny laptop speakers and other garbage products that 128kbps and 320kbps tend not to sound that different. I am really impressed with this product, and the wireless feature of these phones makes it worth every single penny. I was skeptical as to how they would work from a distance since it says it is running BlueTooth 2.0 and can work 30ft away. Well now that I tried it myself...I believe their advertising. I walked 30ft away around 3 walls and they still worked as if NOTHING was interferring. That is the way a TRUE wireless headphone should operate. I use to have some $100 POS RCA headphones that couldn't work 5ft away so 30ft to me was just over the top. I am telling you these headphones are really something, and I am not using that enthusiastic about a product. If you have a local Dell shop or kiosk...check that out...I listened to them there. That is how I found out about this product. I gave up actually learning about these headphones because previous versions were duds...the quality was not good...but these definitely are. Great job Logitech...as always...you come through with another truly remarkable product. Between this, my first wireless optical mouse ever produced by logitech, and my wirless joystick...I have never had such a great experience with any other company like Logitech. Kudos!
